A fresh new year is upon us! I am currently working on
-Getting things for school submitted. Apparently, none of the schools I need transcripts from are back in session from winter break.
-Baby Fund-With the exception of my emergency fund, I am going to snowball my savings accounts till I have my goal amount in there. The baby fund has 450, so $750 more to go to get the goal amount of $1200. Next will be vacations 2010, followed by Christmas.
-DH Crown-have $315, other $315 will come from my Jan.15th paycheck. After the procedure is done, I will be getting reimbursed for $500 from my FSA, so I will have $500 to put towards debt or a savings goal.
-Chase 3-It is currently at $1335. I want to have it at $835 by Jan.31st if at all possible. Not sure if this will be possible because January is bringing a lot of irregular expenses. $187 to fill the propane tank, my birthday, and a dental bill are all working against me.
Had a wonderful new year with DH. We went out to eat and to a comedy club, then came home to watch the ball drop.
I played a little bit with our taxes today, and it looks like we will owe about $400 on our federal taxes and get back about $400 on our states taxes. I strive to get back nothing or even owe a little, so we have the full use of our money during the year. DH's mom makes me sooooo mad. She encourages him to claim 0 exemptions so he will get back a huge tax refund. Um hello?!! This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard. We can be putting that money to good use now. I have no desire to give the government a zero percent loan!
I never understood the logic of waiting 13 months to get a refund on your own money. I use the IRS withholding calculator every quarter to make sure we are on track. That way we can make adjustments before its too late.
ReplyDeleteI know! Especially when we have credit card debt at 15 percent interest!
