State Refund is FINALLY on the way
I have been checking the status of my refund check daily, and it has finally been written. I also get paid from one job on 3/31, so let's see what I will do with our money. I have to pay our federal taxes out of this, so that needs to be considered.
Payroll:630
Refund:403
Total:1033
Fed.Taxes-193
Savings-140
Living Expenses-400
Debt Payment-300
Finally, those pesky federal taxes will be done with, and I have $300 extra to send to Chase. Yay!

To Do By Dates
This is how I want the rest of the year to go. I think it is attainable. We are still waiting on our state refund, and DH will have two extra checks this year. Right there, that is $2400ish to throw towards something. We just need to stay focused. I set up the Fall Fun account because we do so many expensive things in the fall-a pumpkin patch, the county fair, a haunted house, Halloween decorating and fun. I want to be prepared this year!
May 31st-Have baby account fully funded at $900
June 30th-Chase 2 gone
July 30th-Credit union card gone
August 30th-BOA 2 Gone
September 30th-Have 'Fall Fun' account funded at $250
November 1st-Car Loan Gone
Thanksgiving-Christmas/Holiday Expenses account funded at $1700
December 31st-Have Emergency Fund at $2,000
We got a $350 dental bill the other day for some of the work done on DH's crown/root canal. We thought this would be covered, but apparently some of it was not. I'll have to read over the EOB to make sure everything is correct. I am so proud of my DH though. He was worked 65 hours this week so we could pay the entire bill next paycheck and not effect our debt payments or savings. I feel like he is really on board, maybe even more than me! We have been trying to get our debt payed down since 2007, and this go around is the time that has REALLY stuck. I think DH's enthusiasm this time around is what has made all the difference in the world. He really wants to start trying for a baby this summer, and he is doing his part to make it happen. I certainly appreciate it!
Since August 1st, 2009, we have paid off $11,099, which I think is pretty darn good. By August 1st, 2010, we are on track to have $17,000 paid off or 27.5 percent of our debt. By December 31st, 2010, I would like to have $24,110 paid off. At this point, we would be left with student loans and one BOA card. Not too shabby :)

Payday Update
Even though payday isn't until tonight, I have all my payments set up, so I am updating.
This puts our total amount paid off at $11,099. Wow, you would think I would have paid an extra dollar to make it an even $11,100! Chase 3 is now gone. I will continue to use this card for all purchases and pay it off every month because I get stellar rewards for it.

Net Worth $-13,595
My net worth is now -$13,595, and I am excited as could be. See, last year this time, my net worth was -$32,100. In December of 2009, my net worth was -$21,800. We are putting money into savings and our 401Ks, as well as paying down our debt. Before you know it, we will have a positive net worth! I am psyched.

Wants
DH and I were talking last night about some of our wants. While we are dedicated to debt payment, I just like to dream and think about things like this. This list is nothing but pure dreaming. I have NO plans to purchase ANY of this in the next few years.
1. Fishing Boat w/ small beater truck for pulling: This is one of DH's biggest wants, as he loves to fish. I on the other hand just love to be out on the lake. There is nothing more relaxing than curling up beside DH with a nice book while he catches a whale. I also enjoy fishing, but only when I am actually catching something! I have told DH, after we get the debt paid down and get our family started, we WILL start saving for this. Estimated cost:$10,000 for both.
2. New mattress: I pet-sit for a woman who has a sleep number bed, and let me tell you, that thing is HEAVEN! It is like sleeping on clouds. I look forward to pet-sitting just so I can take advantage of her awesome bed. Estimated cost:$1700 for a king size.
3. New granite counter tops for the kitchen: I am in love with the black galaxy granite counter tops. I hate my white, cracked laminate ones. The black would look so good in our red and white kitchen. I'll just have to make-do with seeing the pretty counter tops at Lowes. Estimated cost:$3000
4. New living room furniture: There is a sectional at Rooms to Go that I am in LOVE with. Since our cats tend to be kind of rough on furniture, this is probably one of the last wants we will get. They never claw it when we are around, but I KNOW they are clawing it. Two of our kitties are pretty young, and I expect they are the culprits, but I have never caught them in the act. Estimated cost:$2000
Total estimated cost of wants: $16,700. HA! That's about three credit cards, or a student loan and one credit card. One of these days, maybe. It's nice to dream:)

My Almost $100 Day today
Today started out innocently enough...DH and I stayed up late watching scary movies on AMC, then woke up today around 1 PM (yes, we like to sleep in late. We are both night owls). DH went and got our lawn mower out, since our grass has grown about 3 inches this week. He tells me we need to get the battery charged, and he needs oil for the mower. We head to Autozone, where they attempt to charge the battery. After an hour, it just isn't happening. Purchase #1: new battery for the lawn mower and oil, $45 total.
Upon leaving Autozone, we head to Dollar General, where I proceed to buy potting soil, bird feed, and insecticide for $10 (purchase number 2). After leaving Dollar General, we head to Lowes, where I wanted to get some cheap flowers for my numerous planters. I am able to find the flowers I need for about $10, which is about what I expected. DH has been wanting a seed spread so he can spread his Weed and Feed he got last week for the yard. The one he wanted was $28. It is one that you can actually push. I found one that was $10, TINY, and hand held, and told him he could get that. He says, Okay! And grabs it. You have to realize, our yard is pretty big. This thing was literally about five inches in size. I had a vision in my head of DH crawling all over our yard for the next week, using this little hand held spreader. I told him to put that silly thing up and get the one he wanted. Lowes/Purchase Number 3-$38. Total for the day was $93.
Strangely enough, I am pretty much okay with every dime spent. Our lawn mower was a gift from my grandma, who passed away in September. I intend for it to last a loooong time. Not knowing a lot about lawnmowers, I didn't even consider it would need new oil and a battery. Apparently, Like cars, lawn mowers have to be maintained. DH can use the seed spreader for years to come, so I am okay with that too.
Our spending for the month is WAY over though. DH thinks we can compensate for it in April and stay within, or even under our $800 goal. I really need to consider everything when setting our monthly budget, so I don't overlook anything, like the multiple birthdays/anniversaries this month.
Dates/Eatout: $140
Groceries/food: $423
Misc.:$216-this was an anniversary gift at $30, a haircut at $16, a car wash at $6, a dress at $17, a birthday gift at $40, lawn/house stuff at $48, lawn mower maintenance at $45, and a birthday gift at $24.
Gas: $100
Total:$879-$179 over monthly goal of $700.

Revisiting March Objectives/April Objectives
Here were my objectives to accomplish for March. Since there are only 11 days left in the month, I figured I had better revisit them and see how I am doing:For the month of March, I have a few things, personal and financial I want to accomplish.
*Get down to 185 by March 31st. Considering I am at 191.8 right now, 185 would be a miracle. I don't think this is going to happen, short of chopping off an arm. I am trying to remain optimistic and remember that any weight loss, no matter how small, is a loss.
*Pay off Chase 3.We are on track to do this, barring an emergency or really unexpected expenses.
*Pay $450 to car loan. Not gonna happen. $350 is how much I have budgeted next week, which is still $75 more than the minimum.
*Clean out our closet and dresser. Either donate items or sell on eBay if they are in good shape.Still need to do.
*Go through all paper work and filing cabinets. Chuck what we do not need or file it.This is now ALL done. Everything is in one portable filing cabinet. Call me morbid, but one of my biggest fears is that if I should die unexpectedly, my hubbie would have no clue where life insurance, will stuff, etc. would be. After I finished, I held up the filing cabinet and said,"Sweetie, if I die, everything you need is in here." He looked at me like I was a crazy woman, but I really do feel better now.
*Steam clean our furniture. Will do this weekend with assistance from DH.
*Stick to my cleaning schedule I made for myself. I have certain duties that I do, and DH has his things that he does. DH has small things that need to be done daily, like dishes, taking out the trash, etc., while I have larger things I do weekly, like mopping and bathroom cleaning. I have done better with this, but I still need to work on staying caught up on the laundry and mopping regularly.
March hasn't been an awful month, but it hasn't been as good as I would have liked either. I have only lost 1.8 pounds, which sucks, but I guess that is 1.8 pounds that I do not have on me anymore. Our closet and dresser are still overflowing. It is just hard sometimes to work up the motivation to handle those large projects.
Here is what I want to accomplish in April:
*Get down to 182 by April 30th. I have got to step up my exercise to accomplish this.
*Pay $400 to car loan.
*Get Chase 2 down to $1200.
*Pay $100 towards a dental bill.
*Add $290 to emergency fund.
*Have all garden/yard word done. Thanks to Sarah, I know how to accomplish this in a much more frugal manner :)
*Have out paid off number at $12,500. This will put us right at 20% paid off.
It all looks good on paper. Now I just have to do it!

Misc.:$93-this was an anniversary gift at $30, a haircut at $16, a car wash at $6, a dress at $17, and a birthday gift at $24.

I am $7 over our $700 goal. I still need to get a present for DH's mother for her birthday on Monday, and I know we will need some food for next week. I really don't want to go over $800, so it will be tight! Next month, I think I will shoot for the following goals, with consideration to all birthdays, the fact that both cars will be due for oil changes, and some Easter expenses.
April Expense Goals
Dates/Eatout:$120
Groceries/Food:$400
Misc.:$150-this will include two birthdays and two oil changes for sure

Payday, where are you???
I am so impatient for the next payday to get here. I know it will bring much more progress than last payday, so I am just anxious for it to get here. I am trying to keep busy with spring cleaning and working on our garden. The smallest room in our house that will eventually be our first child's room got a thorough cleaning this weekend. I threw out 3 bags of junk, and I have another bag full of things to donate or sell. I dusted it, scrubbed it, and it is looking pretty good! DH cleaned out our storage building and filled up a whole dumpster with junk. He also cleaned out the fridge and the pantry, and organized out food in a manner that actually makes sense. We're getting there! By next week, I want to get all the weeds pulled out of the garden, put down new weed guard fabric, and spread new mulch in at least half of our garden. I want the other half done by the end of the month, budget permitting.
My weight loss is pretty much at a pound per week, which is not horrible, but not the two pounds a week I was hoping and working for. I just need to keep trucking. Any loss is better than none!

Yikes. We are really high this month. The grocery category includes some yard stuff we bought as well to start getting our yard in shape for the summer. If we are careful, I think we can end the month at $800, which is definitely over my $700 goal, but better than just blowing the whole month. I know we have two birthdays this month left, and two next month. After that, no more birthdays till fall! We still need to get mulch, weed control fabric, and some plants as well. I think we'll just spread these purchases out between now and May. Even if I do go over my spending goals, it is nice to see where the money is actually going.

First, a spending update:
Dates/Eatout: $101
Groceries/food: $156

We are officially over our eating out/date budget. I really don't know why we have eaten out so much the past week. It isn't good for our wallet, nor is it good for my waist line! I told DH that we should challenge ourselves to go the next 11 days with no eating out, starting Friday. We will go over in the miscellaneous category too, since we still have to get a present for DH's mom's birthday and his niece's birthday. I am praying we can make up for this by spending less in the grocery/food category.
Debt update:
Not a huge update this time. We are now at $10,102 paid off since August 1st, 2009. Yay for getting over the 10K mark. My update at the end of the month should be much better and will hopefully get us close to the $11K mark.
I still need to get one of my transcripts sent to the college I am wanting to enroll in. I am planning on starting this summer. I think I can finally get my bachelor's in about a year and a half. I know I will get some grants, but unfortunately, I will be adding a bit to my student loans as well. Sigh. I could just kick myself sometimes. I could have paid for a nice, public college with the scholarships I first had, but instead went to the stupid private college out of nothing but pressure. My parents said the affordable public college wasn't 'good enough.' Blah. I have $31065 in student loans now, and I will finish with about $40K. This COULD have been zero. I also want to get my masters so I can sit for the CPA exam, but one thing at a time. I feel so torn, because I know I want to stay at home with our future children for a couple years. At the same time, I want to be educated. I don't want to be a college drop out, which is what I am right now. I graduated from high school as the freaking valedictorian, and I am 23 now with half a college education.

Spending Tracking
Dates/Eatout: $66
Groceries/food: $156
Misc.:$93-this was an anniversary gift at $30, a haircut at $16, a car wash at $6, a dress at $17, and a birthday gift at $24.
Gas: $50
Total:$365
I slipped up and bought a dress I found on sale, and went out to eat with friends twice. We have a ton of food now, so hopefully this will help keep our eating out figure the same for a couple weeks. I guess the next time I calculate spending goals, I should remember to include all birthdays/anniversaries that fall in that month. We still have one more birthday too. Oops.

Hmm. $131 in four days. Not a good way to start the month.
